Lymph Fusion is the private, clinical practice of Clare Anvar BSc (Hons), MSc, which has been based in Matfield, Kent for 19 years. I specialise in complex disorders of the lymphatic system, which can occur naturally, due to injury, cancer treatments or other health issues; many of which are characterised by uncomfortable swelling (oedema) and have many underlying causes. Inappropriate treatments can lead to serious medical complications. There are very few, fully qualified, experienced lymphatic specialists in the UK.
I offer complete lymphoedema care for primary, secondary and venous oedemas, as well as specialist Lipoedema management. I also prepare clients for operations and provide extensive post-surgical recovery from all cancer, lipoedema, orthopaedic and vascular surgeries.
I use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to ensure all clients are safe to treat, I deliver effective, evidenced-based therapies and provide a measure, fit and home delivery service for medical compression garments and devices.

Lymphoedema
Disorders of the lymphatic system usually present with uncomfortable, long-term swelling, known as lymphoedema, which can be distressing. Lymphoedema happens for many reasons. Some people are born with it, when it is called primary, but more commonly it happens because of acquired lymphatic failure from injuries and burns or as a consequence of cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgeries that remove lymph nodes. This type is known as secondary. The final type is more prevalent in people who are older and/or overweight, due to ageing of the veins in the legs and reduced mobility, heart and kidney disease and side effects of certain, or combined, medications. This is known as venous insufficiency, or dependent, oedema
Surgical Care
I work in conjunction with surgeons to reduce oedemas before many procedures-from open heart surgery to varicose vein removal, foot and ankle surgeries and joint replacements to lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA), micro-neurosurgery, liposuction, plus every type of cancer, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Operations are much more straightforward if the lymphatic system is working optimally when they are undertaken. Equally, healing is much quicker if the lymphatic system can drain away all of the fluid and debris. I provide many post-surgical treatments to support the healing process and the lymphatic system to clear seromas, haematomas, axillary web syndrome, fibrosis, every sort of swelling, bruising, fibrosis and scarring to speed recovery.
Lipoedema
Lipoedema is a much-misunderstood condition. It is thought to be genetic and, almost exclusively, affects women. It is triggered at times of hormonal fluctuation, such as puberty, pregnancy and the menopause, when an excess accumulation of rogue fat cells forms in the legs, hips and buttocks. The upper body is not affected (except for arms in some types), so the lower body is disproportionate and ‘pear-shaped’. Lipoedema actually lays down fat and makes it difficult to lose weight. Most women don't know they have it, so they struggle, not only with weight gain, but the humiliation and negative stereotypes about being fat and lazy. Many doctors have also never heard of it, although it is estimated to affect 11% of UK women.
Compression Garments
I provide a complete measurement, ordering, home delivery and fitting service. For many people, reducing the size of limbs and swollen areas, to lead normal, active lives, depends on having the correct combination of compression garments and devices to use at home. Selecting the correct size, fabric and class of compression for your individual circumstances is an art form! It can take time and trial and error to get it right, due to the exhaustive amount of products on the market. However, once the combination is right, you will be empowered to manage your condition and get on with your daily activities. I have personal relationships with many of the leading companies in the UK and extensive experience in choosing the best and most comfortable, effective options to reduce swelling and maintain improvements.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

The Deep Oscillation device creates healing, electrostatic vibrations within the tissues, at differing frequencies, through the hands of the clinician, to enhance lymphatic drainage
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a series of slow, deep stretching techniques used to restore free movement, reduce fibrosis & restrictions caused by injury, surgery, poor posture & scar tissue.
Kinesiology Taping
Taping is applied after treatment to enhance lymphatic drainage. It effectively reduces swelling, haematomas, seromas and speeds natural healing.
